S.D. Supreme Court rules on Buffalo Chip Campground Municipality

STURGIS, S.D — The South Dakota Supreme Court has issued a ruling regarding the incorporation of the Buffalo Chip Campground as a municipality within the City of Sturgis.

The Campground originally filed for incorporation in February 2015 and was immediately disputed by a group of Meade County residents, as well as the City of Sturgis. On November 12, 2020, the S.D. Supreme Court officially ruled that the Buffalo Chip Campground did not meet the established criteria for formation of a municipality in the State of South Dakota.
